Individualism vs Groups

I have been reading a number of posts on various internet lists, tribes, and groups that have a strong bias against forming face to face organizations. The majority of these seem to come from people who profess to have a golden dawn background. It can make one wonder if that approach has a tendency to breed a type of "selfishness" that in turn can produce a limitation in the practitioner. Of course it can just come down to the poster having personal problems when it comes to relating to other people face to face which is probably more likely.

Anyone else noticing this trend?

The Egyptians used to say that anything that can be conceived of is, in some
form, real. By giving concepts form and name, we can more easily work with
them. Concepts can include body parts, stars, planets, machines and anything
else that we can label or define.
Once given alternate form and name these concepts can be worked with in
magic to form personal mythologies and grimoires. These artificial forms
may be called spirits or eidolons, and can be worked with to surprisingly
good results, once the mind has cemented the new static/symbolic form(s)
inside one's own symbolic matrix.
Since the majority of our brains are set up to communicate with other
beings, operating with different personified forms allows the budding
magician to use more of their mental power while performing reality
adjustments in a fun, easy to understand manner. The seminar will go over
ways of dealing with symbolic forms, and expand the idea of working with the
created forms into any area where magical work is desired. The creation
process is innovative and simple.

Chaosphere Experience audio cassette

Question about the Chaosphere Experience audio cassette sold by Sorceres Apprentice- Leeds. I purchased this in '91 from the Magickal Childe book store in N.Y.via mail (who by the way ripped me off on some book orders) Im trying to reunite my cassette with the 'Instruction Leaflet that was included with it (had 4 or so methods of gnosis on it)... It was stolen from me soon after I received it.

Thought someone on here might know where I could obtain the leaflet . I noticed the Sorceres Apprentice still has a active ???with current date??? web site running but none of the e-mail addresses on it are active.

The name, by definition, involves 5 basic elements.

1. Heavy drinking
2. Outrageous bragging
3. Falling down
4. The actual tipping of the Kao
5. Laughing like a ‘muthafuka’

Preparations:

1. Paper Sigil, its name, & SOI
2. Chalice (filled with appropriately strong drink)
3. An Open Flame.
4. Wholly Pentangle of the Sacred Kao.
5. Magickal Artifact (Preferably a chaosphere ring.)

Rubric:

0. Banish using any method.

1. Boast & Toast the Pentangle – Give SOI

2. Draw a beam down to the sigil, tracing three times.
a. Recite the formula: OBDAXAZONGAGA XIQAL (glyph)!

3. Begin whirling and chanting mantram: “Easy Girl, Easy…”
a. Slowly increase both mantra and whirl-speed
b. At top speed, chant in ½ time: “E-Z! E-Z! E-Z!” until gnosis.

4. When ‘Voided’, immediately stop whirling.
a. Slap hands upon sigil, palms down and fingers touching.
b. Push the power into the glyph, and visualize appropriately.
c. Scream: OBDAXAZONGAGA XIQAL (glyph)! DAO GOJUK OXO UGKANC!

5. Slump to the floor.
a. Upon return, burn sigil.
b. Give the formula: Got’cha Y’Bast’d!
c. Also: All Hail She-What-Done-It-All! IO UDINBAK!
d. Banish with Laughter.

Anyone Up to Posting How 2006 Went for Them?

From my perspective 2006 was a great example of the old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." I got more experience in doing "healing rituals" which are not really where I come from for the most part than I ever wanted to work on. Hmmm.....maybe the Egregore that I am part of was trying to get me up to speed in that area? Nothing like spending 7 days in the hospital to drive a lesson home! On the other hand picking up the phone on the 4th day there and listening to a chorus of voices chanting a mantra via a 5 state conference call that broke down to "You're not done yet" is an amazing morale booster.

Discworld

Has anyone else experimented with the Thaumic paradigm? I'm working on a LHP blend of Lovecraft & Pratchett (with a liberal dash of Eris & Geometrics) in my personal system. The result so far has been that Astral or "Auric" magicks seems to benefit from the Discworld headspace especially when coupled with Platonic Solids as "elemental forces" . Any thoughts? Anyone been here?

Paradigm exploration and past success

When delving into a new magical paradigm, does anyone here take techniques from past workings "with them", so to speak, to the new paradigm? Or, is all past experience set aside in order to explore the new paradigm on its own merits? For example, do you inject gnosis into a working that normally wouldn't include such a thing? I'm curious about different approaches.

Kaosphere

Has anyone actually made a Chaosphere model? I'm working on one at the moment and wanted to see if anyone had some tips on construction. I'm using A styrophoam sphere, dowels for arms, and foamboard tetrahedrons for the arrowheads. The only way to position the arms correctly (as far as I can tell) seems to be by making a cube around the sphere and marking the vertices with pins or something so you get the right angle and spacing. Anyone have any ideas? Has anyone built theirs differently?

Anyone Want to Sum Up How 2005 Went For Them?

I'm actually rather pleased with how the past year progressed
from a magickal standpoint. Our ongoing experiment in
gestalt magick is spreading like oil on water. I suspect that
one really needs an appreciation for diversity to make this
kind of thing work for them, though. The ability to paradigm
shift is just a prerequisite, a portal opener so to speak. Back
in the late 70's and early 80's when I was into painting one
of the techniques I used was to pour oil based paint in a
large pan of water and then dip a canvas in it. The pattern
was transfered to the canvas and from there I painted the
patterns that I discerned (These sold extremely rapidly.) This
was an exercise in working with patterned chaos.

When working with gestalts the background is much more
complex, but the patterns that emerge can be truely amazing
as well as illuminating.

Any Magickal Projects Going On?

Pretty quiet here of late. Sooo.....leaving out classes are there any projects
in process or for that matter under consideration?

Of late most of the work myself and the people I do magick with has been focused on levels of interpenetrating bonding which offers us an opportunity to interprete the "head space and timing" of the individuals involved and in turn facilitates a form we call Gestalt Magick (The whole is greater than the
sum of the parts.) There are probably as many reasons why we are going this as there are people involved and the majority of them are not vocalized,
but rather felt as a need on the individual level.

Then of course there is the concept of the "Singularity" that is being expressed by the people working in the cognitive and computer sciences
and that event may occur sooner than anyone expects.

Tattoos for Magic

I was curious to see if anyone else has ever utilized tattoos (or any other kind of body mod) for a ritual or magical purpose.

I personally find them to be extremely useful, and am somewhat surprised that I never hear more regarding their use.

Take into consideration the elements involved in a tattoo.

First, there is a certain amount of pain involved, and pain is always a useful way in which one can attain a trance state for magical workings.

Second, tattooing is basically a personal blood sacrifice, in a sense. There is such a deep mental connection between blood, life and magic that the use of blood appears in almost every system of magic in one form or another, even on a symbolic level. One would think that any symbol designed in blood would take on a particularly high magical significance.

Third, the tattoo basically becomes a living sigil. It becomes a part of the person and partakes of the person’s vitality (since it is a part of the skin). It’s not something that can be simply “forgotten”, since it is always present on the person.

Once created, a tattoo could be activated during a ritual through trance or anointment. Or it could simply have a continual effect on a person.

One would think that there would be more information out there regarding this. (Or perhaps I am just looking in the wrong spots.)

Any thoughts? :)

Hi

Well, the tribe has been quiet for awhile. I just wanted to say, "Hello".
I worked with the IOT in the novice program for about six months. However, I don't do well working with others or in groups of people and I don't do well with mentors or people "above me" telling me what to do. So I will probably work as a solitary the rest of my life. I mean we are all solitary practioners really, but group things don't seem to be my thing, especially with too many rules or stipulation or structure.

It isn't that I don't have discipline, I have plenty for my own work and things I work on for myself and my own reasons. However, I do enjoy chaos magic, I enjoy chaos magicians (some anyway), I like the freedom and creativity allowed in my magic to do anything. Anything is possible. I am a ceremonial magician, an initiated magician and I dabble in many different belief systems and study many, many different religions and beliefs, on a scholarly level. Nice to meet you everyone. Most of you I know anyway.
